📖 Story: Introducing Yourself
Hi, my name is Sofia. I come from a small mountain town, but these days I live in a large city. Growing up in the mountains was quiet and peaceful. My parents owned a bakery, so every morning I woke up to the smell of fresh bread. I helped in the shop on weekends, serving customers and learning how to bake simple pastries.
As a child, I loved being outdoors. My friends and I would spend hours hiking in the forest, picking berries, and playing near the river. Those memories are very special to me because they remind me of the freedom of childhood.
When I became a teenager, I discovered my passion for photography. I didn’t play sports much, but I always carried a small camera with me. I loved capturing sunsets, birds, and the changing colors of the mountains. Photography gave me a creative way to express myself and also made me more observant.
After finishing high school, I moved to the city to study architecture. At first, city life was overwhelming — the traffic, the noise, the tall buildings. I missed the slow rhythm of my hometown. But with time, I adjusted and found comfort in exploring new places, meeting new people, and enjoying the diversity the city offers.
Now I work for a design company. My job involves planning and creating modern houses. I enjoy the challenge, and I’m proud when I see our projects come to life. In my free time, I still take photographs, read novels, and sometimes go hiking when I have the chance to leave the city.
That’s a little about me.
📝 Vocabulary & Explanation
Our story begins by me saying, “Let me tell you a little about myself.”
Hi, my name is Sofia. I come from (that means, the place where you were born or grew up) a small mountain town. These days, however, I live in a large city.
Growing up in the mountains was very peaceful (calm, quiet, without stress). My parents owned a bakery (a shop where bread and cakes are made and sold). Every morning, I woke up to the wonderful smell of fresh bread. On weekends, I helped in the shop. I would serve customers (help people who buy things in a shop or café) and sometimes learn how to bake simple pastries.
As a child, I loved being outdoors (outside, in nature). My friends and I spent hours hiking in the forest, picking berries, and playing near the river. Those memories are special to me because they remind me of freedom.
When I was a teenager, I discovered my passion (a strong interest in something) for photography. I wasn’t very athletic, but I always carried a small camera. I enjoyed capturing sunsets, birds, and the changing colors of the mountains. Photography made me more observant (able to notice small details).
After finishing high school, I moved to the city to study architecture. At first, life in the city was overwhelming (too big or too much to handle). The traffic, the noise, the tall buildings—all of it was very different from my hometown. But slowly, I learned to adjust (become comfortable in a new situation). I began to enjoy meeting people and discovering the diversity (a variety of cultures and ideas) of city life.
Now I work for a design company. My job involves (includes as a necessary part) planning and creating modern houses. I enjoy the challenge, and I feel proud when I see our projects come to life (an expression meaning something becomes real).
In my free time, I still take photographs, read novels, and sometimes go hiking. These activities remind me of home, while also helping me enjoy city life.
That’s a little about me.
